What to do in Watford this Christmas season
Festivities are well and truly underway, with the Christmas Light Winterfest marking the start of the season with the switching on of the Christmas lights. But what else will be occupying local people and those visiting the town over the next month or so?
The end of year is drawing near and Watford is preparing for a spectacular festive season. Festivities are well and truly underway, with the Christmas Light Winterfest marking the start of the season with the switching on of the Christmas lights. But what else will be occupying local people and those visiting the town over the next month or so?
If you’re in the mood for a heartwarming experience, catch the Watford Phoenix Choir Christmas Concert at St Mary’s Church on December 9th, where all proceeds go to the local charity New Hope.
Or for those who perhaps prefer an evening of live jazz music, the Swinging Christmas Jazz Show will be taking place on the same evening at Watford Pump House Theatre, which promises a night of festive celebration with acclaimed singer Joanna Eden and the Chris Ingham Quartet.
If travel is on the agenda, then the Watford Rotary Club has you covered. Its highly anticipated sleigh rides through the town – on a sleigh decorated by Regal London’s Real Estate Academies – will be active through December and, by joining in, you’ll be supporting local charities too.
For those looking further afield, King’s Cross can be reached in just over 15 minutes via London Euston from Watford Junction. The holiday magic is just beginning here with events such as Botanical Boys Wreath Making, TOAST Festive Market, Crafty Fox Christmas Market, and a Mexican Christmas Market. Club Curling, with its pop-up cocktail bar and live DJ sets every Thursday, promises for a fun night. There will also be a winter wonderland with a 50-foot traditional Christmas tree in Coal Drops Yard.
You don’t have to travel far for some excellent festive markets: there are lots of choices on our very own doorstep. From Soul Survivor’s Winter Wonderland on 30 November to Watford’s Festive Sunday Market from 3 December, mulled wine will be flowing through the streets of the town. Stock up on stocking fillers and enjoy festive treats from local traders at one of these Christmas markets or one of the many others throughout Hertfordshire.
For those still on the hunt for the perfect Christmas party venue for you and your friends or a work celebration, Watford and its surrounding neighbourhoods have you covered. Watford Football Club, Ashridge House, and the Centurion Golf Club are all popular choices for a festive party.
This Christmas, whether you’re celebrating in Watford or exploring the festivities further afield, we hope you have a wonderful happy and healthy season.
