Regal London celebrated a milestone moment in the construction of The Clarendon apartment block and The Clarendon Works office building, a new development playing a central role in the wider regeneration of Watford.

At an event attended by partners in the project, including Watford Mayor Peter Taylor, the scheme officially marked its ‘topping out’ moment – when it reaches its highest point – with a ceremonial gesture to lay the cement.

At 25 storeys, The Clarendon is one of the tallest buildings in Watford and will deliver 168 new homes for Watford residents and people looking to move to the town. The Clarendon Works will offer 140,000 sq ft exceptional quality workspace of a specification most commonly seen in central London, encouraging local businesses to stay and grow in the town.

The ceremony is the latest milestone for The Clarendon, in which only xxx apartments remain available to purchase, and The Clarendon Works, which will open its doors to Watford businesses later this year and which recently announced that premium flexible workspace provider YoooServ will provide co-working space in the building.

Over the course of construction on The Clarendon and The Clarendon Works, Regal London has hosted its first ever Regal London Real Estate Academy in partnership with armed forces charity Building Heroes, which to-date has trained 130 local people and military veterans in construction skills.

Regal London has also worked closely with local partners, including St John’s Church of England School, whose pupils have taken part in an art competition, gained new skills in bricklaying classes, and enjoyed a new rooftop playground.

The developer has further worked extensively with both Watford Borough Council and the Watford Chamber of Commerce to ensure that its plans for the scheme contribute in a sustainable way to the economic and social prosperity of the town.

Jonathan Seal, Chief Executive Officer of Regal London, said: “This is a very special moment for both Watford and Regal London, and the partnership between us. Sustainability and wellness are at the heart of our decision making at Regal London, which is why The Clarendon and The Clarendon Works are designed with such a sharp focus on both the residents and workers who will enjoy their spaces, and the wider community through our various community initiatives and the economic benefits the scheme will bring.

A huge thank you to all of our partners at Watford Council, St John’s School, Building Heroes and the Watford Chamber of Commerce for ensuring that this is more than just a development project, and that the impact is felt more broadly throughout the community.”
